More About Us
The Beginning
Paradigm Benefits Group was started by Judy in 1998 as a sole proprietorship under the name Benefits by Design. Judy resigned from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island where she held the position of Director of Sales. Leaving Blue Cross would enable Judy to devote time to raising her two children and to care for her aging parents.
Decision Time
After working independently for nearly five years, Judy had grown the business to a saturation point. After much consideration and careful planning Judy’s husband, Bill, joined her and Paradigm Benefits Group (PBG) was formed. Bill brought to Paradigm a wealth of financial, management and business development experience.
Planning Ahead
In February of 2005 PBG moved into office space in downtown New Bedford, MA. And although certainly adequate for our needs, the first location did not provide the professional amenities and image that is representative of our high standards. In March of 2008 we moved to our current location on the top floor of the Sovereign Bank building, which provided client parking, security and, most important, room for expansion.
Opportunities for Growth
The fact that we had an extremely successful business model was affirmed time and again as various agencies on the local, regional and national level sought to acquire or merge our company. And although we always listened and seriously considered several offers, we always came to the same conclusion – no one can do what we do better than we can. Without exception, every situation we considered would have resulted in a compromise of our core values.
